building debug versions

Hello all,

Using the different make systems, what is the recommended way to build debug executables and libraries?
AFAIKT the website only gives compilation instructions for release versions of ffmpeg, mlt and kdenlive.

When building from the command line, the default build is debug. This means that you can then use GDB to trace.
