How to open an .mtx clip

I have a panasonic HDC T10

The copied file has .mtx extension in the stream folder.

How to handle that?

once I issued a 'sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get upgrade'
I was able to drop the .mtx file into the clip bin and then drag it to the time line. I am on Karmic 9.10
