I have found that kdenlive 0.9.2 crashes immediately when 6 tracks of video are used. This first happened while I was editing, but I have found that it also occurs with 6 tracks of the same video on two of my computers. Is this a bug or is there some workaround?
I had a similar problem when using 32-bit Ubuntu (with Gnome). After I switched to 64-bit Kubuntu it worked.
Tried 7 tracks, no problem. Script compile from 20120713, suse 11.3 64bit.
openSUSE 12.1 64 bit, KDE 4.7.2, kdenlive and everything else needed for kdenlive installed from repositories.

6 video tracks = crash
5 video tracks = works o.k.
..and just realized that my 3D graphics driver is disabled - maybe that's the problem.
Yesterday I needed to create a complicated pan&zoom effect. I used 9 video tracks and it worked fine.
Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, kdenlive 0.92 from sunab ppa
7 tracks works on my rig:
