I am trying to use Kdenlive 0.7.5 on my Kubuntu Karmic system, but it will not work. Whenever I launch it, the first launch wizard says that the avformat libraries are not detect. Then, once the wizard is complete, the following text appears in the console "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" and kdenlive quits. I don't know what more information I can provide at this point, so please tell me what I should post.
Kdenlive segfaults on start with Kubuntu Karmic, and cannot seem to detect the ffmpeg avformat library

Re: Kdenlive segfaults on start with Kubuntu Karmic, and ...
Please explain how you put Kdenlive, MLT and FFmpeg on your system - packages, source, build wizard? More than likely FFmpeg was updated (by you or the distro packager), but not MLT.

I installed the official packages. I had thought it might have something to do with MLT not having been recompiled with the latest FFMPEG, so I recompiled MLT and then recompiled Kdenlive against the MLT I had just built. Nothing changed. I have also filed a bug report in Ubuntu, but it hasn't been touched: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdenlive/+bug/414620
