Have created a project, and it renders fine, but when I try and use the DVD wizard, the menu text is invisible. Have tried using different fonts and font sizes, backgrounds, etc, makes no difference.

This is a known defect

that I believe is fixed in the upcomming release or if you get a recent git version.
You have a few options, either wait a few more days for jb to get the latest 'stable' release out, its been a little delayed or add one of sunabs PPA's as your are on Ubuntu and have upto date pretty much daily or use the build script to give you a second kdenlive build that's cutting edge and doesn't affect your 'stable' repo version.
Apparently this was fixed in about October...
When is it likely to be included in a 'stable release' - either source or binary....?
Any other way to do a DVD menu in the meantime?
