| Summary | 0001020: Primitive slow/fast motion dialog | ||||||||||||
| Description | The slow/fast motion dialog is primitive, doesn't allow for different ways to enter the speed number, it's not keyframeable, and doesn't allow to drop frames while fast-motioning something (to make normal video look like it's a timelapse). | ||||||||||||

Different ways to enter speed number: You mean e.g. floats instead of percent values? Keyframable: Would that be covered by 0001026 perhaps? Drop frames: Could you explain this? I'm a video noob :) Example? Simon |

Check the playback rate and undersample rate here: http://img217.imageshack.us/i/87388119.jpg/ [^] The playback rate does slow/fast motion, and the undersample rate removes/adds frames in the timecode's fps to give it an effect. For example, this is how I was able to do the timelapse sequences on this video: http://vimeo.com/1036463 [^] It looks like a timelapse of individual pictures, but it was just 60i video originally. |

Ah! Okay. And about the other two questions? |

Regarding the keyframes in slow/mo, I don't get it. Is this a feature to be created, or is already there? And if it's already there, why is it in Mantis and not in the docs? Regarding different ways to enter speed number: For example, if I want to shoot in 60i/30p, and then slow it down to exactly fit a 25p frame rate, by how much do I slow that down? I need the "rate" input box as it is now, but I also need an input box that accepts numbers like "slow it down by 1.2x"! This is very useful for music videos shot in Europe. Because most European cameras only do 25p/50i, sometimes they buy NTSC cameras and shoot at 30p/60i, and then slow it down to 25p (remember, most professional music videos are slowed-down to offer that eerie look). In the NTSC world we have it easy, because we can shoot in 60i/30p, slow it down at 0.800, and then export at 24p. But this is not as easy for the PAL guys, because they would have to input a 0.8333333 number in there. |

Keyframes: Not in there yet. It's a new feature request, and implementing it would cover about what you want, I think. I will add a note that setting a custom clip speed or frame rate too there. Speed number: I agree. This would definitively make sense. Why didn't you already say that in the initial bug report? ;) So our European cameras are recording with 25p/50i ... I'll have to keep that in mind should I buy one. |
