| Summary | 0001107: Audio corrupted when trimming start of EOS 5D MK2 files | ||||||||
| Description | I'm currently working with video files from the Canon EOS 5D MK2. When files are simply added to the timeline (without trimming), render output is fine. Unfortunately, when the start of the file is trimmed (by means of the clip monitor), audio gets corrupted. In case of a single file, sound is lost after 1-2 seconds. If an untrimmed file is followed by a file with a trimmed start, audio of the first file bleeds into the second file and subsequently gets lost completely. | ||||||||
| Additional Information | I'm willing to help in any way possible, just let me know how to assist. Using: Kdenlive Version 0.7.5 from http://ppa.launchpad.net/sunab/ppa/ubuntu [^] on Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope | ||||||||

Several audio sync issues were very recently fixed in MLT, a new release should happen soon. Not sure if this will fix your issue, but in the meantime, what you could do is upload a small video sample so that we can try to reproduce the issue. Currently, this camera is marked as "unsupported" in our database, see: http://kdenlive.org/video-editor/canon-eos-5d-markii [^] |

Thanks for the quick answer. About the camera being unsupported, it's described as "Video editing works, but slowly," which would be fine with me :-) Meanwhile I have tried to create a video short enough to fit into the 5000k file limit for uploads. The camera records at least 1 second, which is 5.6MB. Is it possible to increase the file limit? A useful sample file would be around 30MB. |

Ok, I temporarily increased the upload size to 30 MB. If it's ok for you, I will put a link to your uploaded file in the camcorder's info page of our database, so that it can be used for further tests. |

Thanks for the video. I did a few tests and don't see (or hear) any audio corruption, but of course it's hard to say with a short file. In any case, I can put it in timeline, resize the clip to start after a few seconds and nothing unusual happens, so I think the problem might be solved - I am using latest git MLT and latest FFmpeg svn, so not sure if the fix is in MLT, FFmpeg or both. I also put your video sample on the camcorder info page. regards |

Just to be sure we both made the same test, these are the steps: 1) Added file MVI_2908.MOV to the project. 2) Used the Clip Monitor to trim 0.8 seconds for the start of the file. (Please see attached screenshot) 3) Add the clip to the time line, aligned to the start. 4) Render. 5) Resulting file drops silent after 1 second of playback (See attached "Rendereed_Trimmed.mt2"). If this setup works flawlessly on your machine, we can consider the bug closed and I'll wait patiently for the next release :-) |

Yes, I can confirm that audio works fine using the instructions you gave in your last comment. |
