| Summary | 0001426: Buggy playback in clip monitor | ||||||||
| Description | Previewing video in clip monitor window is choppy and jerky and it uses almost 100% of CPU time. After some googling and experiments I think that the problem is in audio playback (because if you put more sounds on the timeline, it uses more and more CPU time), but I'm not sure. | ||||||||

Provide more information about your system specs, clip formats, and project profile. More than likely you are using AVCHD, which is known to be very intensive, or expecting too much from your computer for the job you are giving it. Unless you have >2 cores, then you can convert this into a feature request for more parallelism. |

I am trying to work on EeePC so: Intel Atom 1.6 GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, GPU Intel 945GME Integrated. File properties according to mplayer: Video: FFmpeg MPEG-1, 640x480 (aspect 1) 30.000 fps Audio: MPEG layer-2, layer-3, 32000 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 64.0 kbit/6.25% (ratio: 8000->128000) Project profile: DV/DVD PAL |

All I can say right now is that Kdenlive is rather heavy, and I would expect it to be sluggish on an Atom. I have not done testing on something little as that. Certainly, you should try to choose a project setting that matches your source clip. For instance, DV PAL is 720x576, so that forces some upscaling from 640x480. Try the VGA NTSC setting. |
