Description

I am editing three one hour videos. Each needs to have a caption added below the video. The first video is completed with fifty captions added as individual title clips and placed at correspondingly named guides. Each title clip had to have the text positioned manually. The positioning controls were a great help, but it was tedious. The second video has 125 captions. The prospect of adding and adjusting each is daunting.

I have labeled all of the caption insertion point guides on the time line. These captions can be extracted from the .kdenlive file as plain text with timings. Would it be difficult to add a facility that would allow the automatic generation and insertion of formatted, positioned subtitles from that list?

[I'm sorry that I don't know which of the predefined categories to use for this request. None seems to fit. Perhaps some external program could handle some of the job.]

I recently did a six minute subtitled video, and with Kdenlive's titling features at the moment, this ends up being a mountain of work. A request for this feature was also filed under 0000400 http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=400 [^] As time goes on, I will be editing more and more video that require subtitles. Add this feature, and you will expand your user base.
