| Summary | 0002186: Upgrade from 0.7.8 not possible have to uninstal/reinstal | ||||||||||||
| Description | When I tried to upgrade from 0.7.8 to 0.8, I look at the Ubuntu package web page and followed the instruction: http://www.kdenlive.org/user-manual/downloading-and-installing-kdenlive/pre-compiled-packages/ubuntu-packages [^] Added the ppa line but had a pubkey error into the Software Source Manager. I download the key: sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com B5115B98AA836CA8 At that point, the Software Source Manager was OK to refresh, but the Upgrade Manager still have trouble with kdenlive 8.0: This change is not coming from a source that supports changelogs. So I decided to bypass it by uninstalling kdenlive 0.7.8 through the Software Center, and when I reinstalled Kdlenlive, it proposed me the 8.0. And voila :) | ||||||||||||

hi, 1- Software Source Manager displays an error message about a missing key when you add a ppa, but in fact the key is automatically retrieved in background. This is a bug. Note this don't happen when Software Source Manager is called through Synaptic package manager. 2- Update Manager displays a warning message explaining that some packages are impossible to install. Click on "partial upgrade" (very bad named button) and the update runs fine. Update Manager is very conservative by default, in this case the replacement of libmlt3 by libmlt4, is considered a distribution upgrade but it is not enabled by default with ppa sources, so it shows this very bad named warning. 3- When using a ppa Update manager shows "This change is not coming from a source that supports changelogs". This is another minor bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/launchpad/+bug/253119 [^] This reminds me about rewriting the Ubuntu packages install web page. In my opinion : no kdenlive bug, no packaging bug. Just Ubuntu bugs and UI inconsistencies. |
