Summary0002439: Kdenlive crashes on startup
DescriptionKdenlive crashes on startup from command line or using system menu. No gui is ever shown, the application crashes before that.
Steps To ReproduceStart kdenlive (from command line or system menu).
Additional InformationAlthough the crash dump says I'm using KDE 4.7.4 the crash occurred before I updated KDE to 4.7.4. Kdenlive is installed from Packman repository.

 Which MLT version do you have? Try playing a clip with MLT:

melt myclip.mpg

 Having KDE Desktop Effects activated or not doesn't matter, kdenlive krashes all the same.

 Sometimes the application starts properly after many crashes in a row (openSUSE 12.1 64bit, kernel 3.1.1-2-desktop, KDE 4.7.2).

 Reproducable for me now, too :-(

I played a bit around ...

"strace kdenlive" ->> No crash appears! Weird.
"LANG=en_US.utf8 kdenlive" ->> No crash appears (tried this 20 times)
"LANG=de_DE.utf8 kdenlive" ->> CRASH (immediately)

 There is a known problem on Suse with MLT 0.7.6. Please try the workaround I suggested in issue 0002493 to see if it fixes the problem

 Yes, your suggestion helped: A "sudo mv /usr/lib/mlt/libmltjackrack.so /usr/lib/mlt/libmltjackrack.so-removed" made it.

Started kdenlive another 20 times: no crash at startup anymore.

 This solution worked also for openSUSE 64 bit.
