| Summary | 0002442: Text handling | ||||||||||||
| Description | Text handling needs bit of work and optimization. When using lots of text, there is horrible slowing, and even audio chopping. I have a 6 core AMD with 8GB of ram, so it's not for a lack of power. Initially, my goal was just to have text here and there, which I can attempt and do by doing a few things, such as using the typewriter effect to make text appear faster on screen, or having multiple title clips at various times during my home videos. What I've done for now, is insert 1-5 second pauses at various times with my home videos which allows the text to catch up a bit, and even recorded voice narrations for some segments, and other such filler material. But I'd rather just use strictly text. And lots of it. I attempted to mess with some of the speed plugins, but that didn't always work as I wanted either, making the audio or video also speed up.(sometimes, it was great, but the speed plugin should be looked at with respect to text-in-video) I'd like the text to move faster(or slower at times), and I didn't see anything to change the text scroll speed inside the title clip dialog window. | ||||||||||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Open the 'title clip' dialog, type in some text. Having a short line of 3-10 words works great- saving and closing title clip and hitting play, preview works great. Try using more, like 30-40 words, then play the video with some overlays and it will slow down. Just for the sake of doing it(Because I would like to in the future) I put several paragraphs worth of words in the title clip dialog - like 100-200 words. I saved it, then when playing the video in the main window it slows, chops, audio garbles horribly, and other problems. The ability to preview becomes unusable with larges amounts of text. The program don't crash, this is great software. It just needs optimization in the area of text capability. Rendering the file produced a usable file that I had created, but I'd like to preview it first before rendering it. It gets annoying when I have to render the file to see what I'm making, then make a change, then render again, then make a change again then render once more because I can't preview it's too choppy. After 6-8 times, this gets to be very annoying. | ||||||||||||
| Additional Information | Text, lots and lots of text. Text that scrolls up, down, to the left and or right. So it's kind of a bug report and kind of feature requests. Thank you! | ||||||||||||
