Description

When trying to open & edit a kdenlive project with proxies generated on a different PC only the proxies work for media that has been added to the timeline previously all other clips are listed but have big red crosses against them and only thumbnails for clips on the time line.

I'm hoping to be able to edit a few projects 'offline' from a memory stick or portable hard drive, whilst out and about on a laptop or netbook.

So I set up the project path to the memory stick or h/d then generate the proxies for a project from source media off my RAID, so the proxies reside on the portable media, rather than duplicate gigabytes of HD video or transcode to lightweight codec, when proxies are going to be required to edit with anyway.

Then I save the project to the portable location. In theory now I should be able to take that portable media to another machine and edit via proxies by using kdenlives 'use place holders for unavailable media'.

It's very close and a great feature but it doesn't quite work. :-(

Steps To Reproduce

Create a project on a portable location, add some media, generate the proxies to the portable location, add one of the source clips to the timeline, save project, take it to another machine.

Open the project on that machine, choose to use placeholders for media and check the Source Tree, only the clip on the time line has a thumbnail and usable proxy linked.

Also selecting all clips and choosing properties also crashes kdenlive outright. :-(

(0007862) j-b-m (administrator) 2012-02-05 15:08	I just committed a few changes (including fixing the properties crash) that should basically make it work now. There are probably a few cases where problems will appear, so I will let you try it and post feedback here.

(0007863) yellow (reporter) 2012-02-06 09:53	j-b-m, thanks, yes now works after your commit, looking forward to trying this out now. :-) Regarding crashes, so far only one I've found is forcing frame rate of proxy, that crashes kdenlive. But apart from that looks good. :-)
