| Description | Application: kdenlive (0.8.2.1) KDE Platform Version: 4.7.4 (4.7.4) Qt Version: 4.7.4 Operating System: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic x86_64 Distribution: Ubuntu 11.10 -- Information about the crash: I had installed this Kubuntu OS today, so this computer is a dualboot Win7/Kubuntu. The only odd thing is that it kept disconnecting from the internet every 5mins or so. I have a copied-over project from an older PC. The project was made under also Kubuntu 11.10, but it was 32bit, not my current 64bit. I think it was made with Kdenlive 0.8, but in any case, Kdenlive upgraded and created a backup successfully. Some of the paths were wrong, due to the fact that the project was stored in a different location. There were a lot of clips (somewhere between 15 and 40), but all of them were found except 2 MP4s, which I told it to substitue with blanks. All the video was in MP4 format, from the exact same video camera. There were also some JPGs, WAVs, and MP3s. It successfully created thumbnails for most of the clips, and showed this in the project monitor. However, it then crashed, whithout any messages, warnings, errors, or anything else whatsoever. I don't think I will be able to reproduce this in the current state, I probably will have to delete all the stored thumbnails first. If you want me to try this, I will do so. The below backtrace info was created by the KDE crash handler, after I installed the debug symbol packages. It's been 2days since I posted this, and I've learned more. (1) This is indeed reproducible: every time I open this project, it crashes while loading thumbnails. (2) Based on the error, the bug is most likely caused by one of 3 things: (a) Kdenlive is trying to load one of the 2 files that do not exist. (b) Kdenlive is (somehow) trying to access memory that doesn't exist (c) This is a bug that makes Kdenlive incompatible with 64-bit OSes, which I am currently using (this build of Kdenlive is indeed 64bit.) (3) I discovered I was trying to open the wrong project file: the one I actually wanted was elsewhere. I will probably want this project at some point, so this is still an issue, but it no longer stops me from editing what I wanted to. |

I too am getting a lot of crashes when kdenlive generates video thumbnails. Turning them off got rid of the crashes. This callstack is from the version of kdenlive/mlt I built against latest-git ffmpeg, but it happens with Fedora Core 17 yum-repo ffmpeg too. If you need any more information, or want me to hack the code to print out more debugging info or whatever, just ask -- I seem to be able to reproduce this a lot, mostly when resizing clips. @ulatekh: Which Kdenlive / MLT versions are you using? Also, do the crash happen only with some clip formats (clips from a specific camcorder) or with every clips? |

I'm using latest-git ffmpeg, mlt and kdenlive. My clips are all ffv1 vcodec in a .mov container, produced from raw video with a yuv411p pixel format (i.e. "ffmpeg111 -i input.yuv -vcodec ffv1 output.mov"). |

Strange, video thumbails are really stable for me. Did you change the "Processing threads" setting in Kdenlive's settings dialog > Environment? It should be set to 1... |

I have MP4 clips raw from a SANYO camera. Not sure what the "Processing Threads" is set to, I don't have that computer on right now, but that PC has 4 cores. |

I never changed anything in Settings -> Configure Kdenlive... -> Environment -- the MLT-environment processing-threads is set to 1 and the proxy-clips concurrent-threads is set to 2. I noticed that my MLT environment, FFmpeg/FFplay was set to "/bin/ffmpeg" and "/bin/ffplay" even though I built with --avformat-suffix=111, i.e. those should have been "/bin/ffmpeg111" and "/bin/ffplay111". They are now. If there's anything else I can do to help track this down, don't hesitate to ask. |
