| Summary | 0002563: Renaming of clips in the project tree results in the new name being alphabetically sorted and lost | ||||||||||||
| Description | When a clip on the project tree is renamed, the resulting new named clip is immediately resorted alphabetically and visual contact with it is lost. If you have a multitude of clips on the project tree and you want to work on one specific clip but need to change its name first, doing so will re-sort the whole tree and then you'll have to search for that clip to continue work on it. I have to do this all the time, spending time searching for the clip after renaming it. It would be nice if after the rename and re-sort, that specific clip could be kept in view. | ||||||||||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Rename a clip. 2. The clip is renamed, resorted, and is no longer seen in the project tree (if there are many clips involved). 3. One has to now physically search for that clip to continue work on it. | ||||||||||||

It seems to work better now. However, the act of renaming a file is very inconsistent. Double clicking works sometimes and other times the properties menu pops up but the file name is not changeable. Perhaps adding a "rename" command on the right click context menu would do the trick. There is no "rename" command in any of the menus (or shortcuts) that I can find. Double clicking is the fastest way to rename but it's very iffy. During testing of the above changes, the double click only worked once. Thereafter, I was not able to rename any file because the double click failed and there is no other rename command. I went back to a previous build and the same thing happened. Perhaps only certain files are renameable. Is that true? Thanks, Wayne |

I guess only clips created from within Kdenlive can be renamed. I still think a right click context menu should have the "rename" command on it if it's renameable. Thanks, Wayne |

Renaming clips works fine now. Thanks for the improvement. It's a great time saver. Wayne |
