| Description | My students have made ??a film in black and white. This is an old style burlesque. So we put some filters on each track: grayscale, dust, old film, grain and vignette effect. All the work went well... We are at a near final version. But, by opening Kdenlive today to add corrections, the software fails to read tracks in the project: the project monitor remains black. Only the withdrawal of the vignette effect can see the film again. Nothing changes after a computer restart. Putting the Vignette effect of a sequence only makes black. In a new project, the ivgnette effect works ! We must project our movie soon ! thank you Yonnel ________________________ Mes élèves ont réalisé un film en noir et blanc. C'est un burlesque style ancien. Nous avons donc mis plusieurs filtres sur chaque piste : niveaux de gris, dust, vieux film, grain et vignette effect. Tout le montage s'est bien déroulé... Nous en sommes à une version presque finale. Mais en ouvrant Kdenlive aujourd'hui pour ajouter des corrections, le logiciel ne réussit pas à lire les pistes du projet : le moniteur de projets reste toujours noir. Seul le retrait de l'effet de vignetage permet de voir à nouveau le film. Rien ne change après un redémarrage de l'ordinateur. Mettre l'effet vignetage sur une séquence seule la rend noire. Dans un nouveau projet, l'effet vignetage fonctionne ! Nous devons projeter notre film prochainement ! Merci Yonnel | ||||||||

| Additional Information | It seems that after investigation the effect settings change by themselves after reopening a project. Change these settings by hand does not always functional effect. But some times, it worked ! _________________________________ Il semble après recherches que les paramètres de l'effet changent tous seuls après réouverture d'un projet. Modifier ces paramètres à la main ne remet pas toujours l'effet fonctionnel. Mais quelques-fois, ça a marché ! | ||||||||

The project consists of several projects. All .kdenlive have the same problem. Even when the setting of vignette effect was not disturbed, the image is black. (black and remains despite manual adjustments.) ____________________________________ Le projet est composé de plusieurs projets. Tous les .kdenlive ont le même problème. Même quand l'effet vigntage ne s'est pas déréglée, l'image est noire. (et reste noire malgré les réglages manuels.) |

There is a small passage using the filter "lens correction". The parameters have changed completely. The manually reset has no effect. _________________________________ Il y a un petit passage utilisant le filtre "lens correction". Les paramètres ont complètement changé. Les remettre manuellement n'a aucun effet. |

I just discovered that the "speed effect" decreased to 1% alone! ________________________________ Je viens de découvrir que les effets de vitesse sont passés à 1% tous seuls ! |

Other ongoing projects had no damage on the pan & zoom effects. _____________________________________ D'autres projets en cours n'ont eu aucun dégât sur les effets pan & zoom. |

Help !!! An effect "volume keyframable" puts instantly all keframes to 0 on another project ! (reopening the . kdenlive) Just before, everything went well !!! ____________________________________________ Au secours ! Un effet "volume keyframable" vient à l'instant de mettre toutes ses keframes à 0 sur un autre projet !!! (à la réouverture du .kdenlive) Juste avant, tout allait bien !!! |

In this other project, a serie of sequences having the effect amplification were lowered to 0% by themselves. (after reopening) Help !!! All my video projects with KDEnLive crumble ! Given to 60% by hand : the sound does not come back ! ___________________________________ Dans cet autre projet, une séries de séquences ayant l'effet amplification sont passés à 0% toutes seules. (après réouverture) A l'aide ! Tous mes projets vidéos avec KDEnLive s'écroulent !!! Remis à 60% à la main : le son ne revient pas ! |

I think it is a locale issue. The project you attached uses a Nicaragua Spanish locale (LC_NUMERIC="es_NI.UTF-8"), which uses a comma (,) as separator. When trying to open it on my PC, the locale does not seem to be recognized, and all numbers with comma become 0. I will investigate more, but can you try changing the locale inside the document to a french locale (in line 2, replace "es_NI.UTF-8" with "fr_FR.UTF-8") and check if it fixes the problem? |

I think that's it. I live in Nicaragua for few months. I left my system in French, but shortly before the bug, I change KDEnLive in Spanish to help a friend by phone. (Yes, I try to bring people here to use Linux and Kdenlive :-) ) I will quikly make the changes you suggested. |

I did replace "es_NI.UTF-8" by "fr_FR.UTF-8" in line 2 with gedit, but the project does not open after... He says he has lost the names of the sequences (see attachment). If I restore "es_NI.UTF-8", the project can be opened again. Thank you for the time you spend to help me. |

To make things worse, there is a bug in Ubuntu's nicaragua's locale that says it uses a comma as numeric separator while Qt's locale (like most documents I found on the web) says it uses a dot. I reported the bug to Ubuntu (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/langpack-locales/+bug/997248 [^]) , but it probably won't be solved soon. This creates a conflict and breaks some stuff. Can you check in your Kdenlive project file, in the "kdenlivedoc" tag there is a version="0.88". change that to version="0,88" and it should open correctly. For example, in your attached Vide.kdenlive project, change: <kdenlivedoc profile="dv_pal_wide" kdenliveversion="0.8.2.1" version="0.88" (...) to: <kdenlivedoc profile="dv_pal_wide" kdenliveversion="0.8.2.1" version="0,88" (...) Hope it works, going to bed now, will check back tomorrow morning |

"kdenlivedoc" are version="0.88"... I'm out of luck... It does not work. For information, I loaded Ubuntu's pakages of Nicaragua's Spanish and put KDEnLive in Catalan. The bug become from Ubuntu or Kdenlive ? Fortunately, I made backup of projects just before the change of language. Whatever the language of KDEnLive, these files have the same bug. But, does it help to : - remove the packages Spanish NI of Ubuntu ? - Kdenlive reinstall ? - or make a clean installation of a 12.04 ? (Does KDEnLive works well on Precise Pangolin ?) None of the solutions you give will help. The problem is inside the kdenlive project file. Following the 2 steps I mentioned should fix the problem : 1- replace es_NI.UTF-8 with fr_FR.UTF-8 in the second line of the project file 2- in the 'kdenlivedoc' tag, replace the dot with a comma in the version number If these 2 steps don't solve, give me more infos about the remaining problem. Also, Kdenlive makes auto backup that can be recovered from the 'project' menu, backup... |

I can now open the project, but the sequences steel black with "Vignette effect". |

Ok, I think I might have found the problem. Try starting Kdenlive from a terminal, using: LANG="fr_FR.UTF-8" kdenlive Then, open the modified project file (where you replaced es_NI with fr_FR and version number with a comma). |

Great to hear that. I have now included several fixes in Kdenlive 0.9 that will be released tomorrow so that this kind of corruption will not happen anymore. regards |

I modified and tested the 12 sub-projects from the W&B movie. I opened them with KDEnLive, launched from a terminal (LANG = "en_US.UTF-8" kdenlive) 4 operate normally again, but 8 does not function normally. examples: "La bagarre.kdenlive": vignette effect puts all the videos in black. "Introduction.kdenlive": only the vignette effect of track 4 kill the images. (The settings go to 0, no effect with manual change) "Réveil.kdenlive": "vignette effect" works, but not "optical distortion" It's strange anyway ... |

This is a result of the Nicaragua locale bug. Some effects have parameters with a comma, and some others have a dot as numerical separator. You should edit the project files and change the parameters to use a comma. For example in "La bagarre", the vignette effect uses a dot, see line 877-880: <property name="smooth">0=0.8</property> <property name="radius">0=0.5</property> <property name="x">0=0.5</property> <property name="y">0=0.5</property> Should be changed to: <property name="smooth">0=0,8</property> etc... This is the reason why some effects don't work or the clips becomes black. Manually editing the effects should fix the problem, I you are still having problems, send me the files and I can check them, regards |

Ok, I found why changing the parameters inside Kdenlive for vignette effect does not solve the problem. Your .kdenlive project file contains some text clips that still have the "es_NI.UTF-8" locale. Replace all occurence of "es_NI.UTF-8" in the document with "fr_FR.UTF-8" and you should be able to adjust the parameters from Kdenlive again. |

The issue should be solved in Kdenlive 0.9 and you can open your documents without the terminal hack. However, documents previously created with the es_NI locale will still be buggy and require a manual change to fr_FR.UTF-8. New documents created in es_NI locale should work fine (Kdenlive 0.9 now detects locale conflicts and uses the default C locale in such cases for its documents). |

I have everything correct. I took the project with the kids and everything works. Thank you again for all the work to help us. The dynamic of KDEnLive's team is admirable. I wanted to give for the "Fundraising campaign for 2012", but it was over. Is it possible to give otherwise? thank you again. |
