I ran into this a while ago. an mlt update from git fixed this for me, and for the last two months I am able to render rather large projects in HD. Kdenlive still uses all available ram, but does not swap out too much, and this I consider to be a good thing. (tm) In short, I have seen this problem, but it's gone with the latest gits. |

fixed in MLT 0.8.2 that will be recommended in next kdenlive version (0.9.3 ?) |

I seem to have the problem with MLT 0.8.7 even. |

I have this problem as well with the latest (today) development release of kdenlive and MLT 0.8.6. When rendering a 14:30 min HD video, melt uses all available RAM (8 GB) way before it completes. This happens when rendering with at least the HDV profiles and the DVD profiles. It does not happen with other profiles like MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. It is too bad because this issue literally "renders" kdenlive unusable for many purposes, simply because rendering does not work. |
