|Summary||0000027: Scrub/timeline is imprecise|
|Description||Scrubbing in the timeline is imprecise. The timeline marker actually is showing video from several seconds before. |
Here is an example of how to reproduce.
1. Start new project
2. Create 2 seconds of red and add to track 0
2. Create 2 seconds of blue and add to end of track 0
3. Move to 2:11
Even though the track shows the marker in the blue clip, the timeline monitor shows the red clip.
Another example of the problem is the video in the timeline monitor continues to play after the marker reaches the end of track 0.

The problem is cumulative: with longer clips, the discrepancy is worse. In the second screenshot, the difference is 1 minute 40 seconds. This makes it hard to work with real video projects.
However, I noticed something else interesting. I created two color clips of length 00:10:00:00, but they show up in the project tree and timeline as 8 minute 20 seconds (about 1 minute 40 seconds short). Then, when I notice the timeline monitor transitions between clips at 10:00:00 instead of at 08:20:00.
Perhaps the problem is simply that Kdenlive does a bad job of calculating the length of a clip?
kdenlive-mismatch.png shows how track 0 and track 1 are 3 minutes off! That makes it very difficult to work.
In the screensshot, the yellow "Questions" title comes from track 0 which is at about 15:10. However, it doesn't show in the timeline monitor until 18:11.
I can not reproduce on current Kdenlive for KDE4. It works as expected.
It appears this bug was filed against the KDE3/qt3 version of Kdenlive. Due to a shortage of developers, this version is no longer supported (see http://www.kdenlive.org/news.php [^]), and this issue has been closed.
If you believe this is an error, or can reproduce this issue using the KDE4/qt4 version of Kdenlive, please file a new report.
If you have trouble building/obtaining the KDE4/qt4 version of Kdenlive, please consult http://www.kdenlive.org/compile [^]
You may especially be interessted in the Kdenlive Builder Wizard, available at http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=85826 [^] .
Note, that you do not need to run KDE4 to build and run the Kdenlive KDE4 version.
