| Summary | 0002745: Very slow seeking with big files | ||||||||||||
| Description | Hi! I'm trying to edit some 3 hours WebM files (640x360 @ 24 fps). Seeking a is OK *around the beginning* of the clip but become slower as I go later in it, more and more slower when going to the end... Practically, I click in the time bar, say at 2:30:00, the playback stops, a kdenlive thread take 100% of a core during 4 or 5 mn and start again. As the bug happens also on transitions, it nearly impossible to work. BUT, this bug doesn't exist in Kdenlive 0.8-4 !! | ||||||||||||
| Steps To Reproduce | 1. Add a long WebM clip like this one: http://e-learning.crfpa.pre-barreau.com:8040/Pre-Barreau/CRFPA/2012/Fiscal_-_Cours/881935800035a7a94167a0c201fe1340/crfpa-droit-fiscal-cours-08_23_12-08:31:24.webm [^] 2. go to 0:02:00, play, wait for 0.1s, then playback :) 3. go to 2:30:00, play, wait for 6s + hard CPU load, then playback :( | ||||||||||||
| Additional Information | I repeat, I don't have this bug using Kdenlive 0.8-4 ! | ||||||||||||

I can reproduce it. |

Seems to be an MLT issue. I can reproduce using melt. Seeking delay is quickly growing when approaching one hour. Seeking with avplay works fine, so it is probably a problem in MLT. You can always try to convert your file to a more commonly used video format (in Kdenlive, right click on the clip and transcode > dnxhd). Maybe that will improve seeking. |

Thanks for applying. For the moment, I use 0.8 on Kubuntu 11.10 which depends on libmlt4 (0.7.4) and is really fine for my work even on big files. But, if I can help to fix this, I can compile and test some patch (sorry I'm a python dev, not qt nor c++).. |

One more thing: Kdenlive really rocks!! Kudos to the dev team ;) |
