0002892: Constant segfaults and crashing with todays (24th Dec) sunab 'unstable' build

(0008866) yellow (reporter) 2012-12-24 18:41	Downloaded todays kdenlive build from Dans MLT build bot site here: http://builds.meltytech.com/kdenlive/latest.rss [^] Loaded same projects as used in sunabs build from today, no crashes / seg faults but freezing instead playing a couple of clips in the clip monitor, swapping between them, pause play etc. The freezing is identical to a few weeks ago that got fixed but now reappears. I've added a debug.txt file for Dans freezing build.

(0008867) j-b-m (administrator) 2012-12-25 00:32	I cannot reproduce the problem (I am also on an Ubuntu 12.10 64bit system)... The debug.txt crash info is not useful, could you try again and type: thread apply all bt instead of just 'bt', that gives info about the different threads and might provide something useful. Also, what kind of clips are you using? Can you reproduce the bug with color clips?

(0008873) yellow (reporter) 2012-12-25 23:01	hi j-b-m, still freezing with latest git build today, using build script. Doesn't freeze just with color clips but then they don't use proxies. Project details causing freezing is h264 in matroska with linear pcm audio using mjpeg proxies and full range flag set on. Testing todays build with h264 in MOV with 'Normal MPEG' proxies doesn't cause freezing. However the h264 in matroska has not caused problems prior to last few days, 3 projects I did last week were completed fine, yet last few days they freeze build script version and segfault sunabs latest 'unstable' build. I'll try to give better info, still testing. Many thanks.

(0008874) yellow (reporter) 2012-12-25 23:40	Uploaded a backtrace.txt, hope it's more useful. Freeze happens play pause swap to another clip play pause etc sometimes happens after just a few swapping between, sometimes after 10 or more.

(0008875) j-b-m (administrator) 2012-12-25 23:50	I just reverted my "stability update" from yesterday that was the cause for the freeze, and fixed the problem in another way, should be fine now

(0008898) moorsey (reporter) 2012-12-26 10:45	Still getting issues with this. I am normally on sunab-svn, but used the build scripts to test out the fix. Kdenlive now does not crash when creating proxy clips, but it fails to create proxy clips at all! I loaded a .mts file in and it showed the proxy clip was created instantly, this was on a 14 minute file, so would have taken some time to create. When trying to play the clip in kdenlive, I get the first few frames 5 seconds, then there is no video after that. Dragged a few more clips in and they are just sitting there with "Loading" status. UPDATE: about 5 minues later, one clip has started creating its proxy clip, but is taking longer than usual about it. ALso, normally a few clips convert at the same time, but just one going currently, will see if this works

(0008905) j-b-m (administrator) 2012-12-26 17:48	Ok, I just fixed a bug that caused proxy clips progress not showing up when using MLT configured with "--enable-debug" which is the case with the build script version. Also, note that due to debug enabled, the build script version might be slightly slower.

(0009127) moorsey (reporter) 2013-01-27 12:50	Just to post back, not been on kdenlive for a while Installed latest sunab svn build and all seems to be working fine. Just had to install "libavcodec-extra-53" before proxys would work, as it does not seem to be pulled in as a dependency. Cheers j-b-m
