| Summary | 0000395: Realtime Time-Stretching for Video/Audio | ||||||||||||
| Description | It would be nice to have realtime time-stretching for video/audio with markers for binding some points of clip to timeline-positions. Use-case: - live-video with bad audio - replace audio with studio records, without making cuts - music videos any other? | ||||||||||||

Can you clarify what you mean by "realtime time stretching" and "points of clips to timeline positions" in a bit more detail? How does "realtime stretching" differ from the current clip speed settings? Do you mean being able to keyframe clip speed? |

I think I mean to keyframe clip speed. But with more intuitive GUI: Set multiple markers on a clip (audio or video), and drag a marker to left/right while leaving the markers stay on their position, which has the effect of time-shifting. Example Original Track with markers M1, M2, M3: -------M1-------M2----------M3--------- Time-Stretching by dragging Marker M2: -------M1---M2--------------M3--------- By the way: Is it possible to zoom in vertically? This would be also nice to do exact work with audio-clips. |

Vegas can Keyframe the speed of clips, using a timeline and keyframes that can be dragged up or down (and not left or right, which wouldn't be visually usable). It's a very powerful feature, and it really makes a difference compared to Premiere Pro for instance. |

This feature would be so nice. I just stumbled over a few videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BVukS6d8d0 [^] See 2:10. The speed fist move has been increased, about twice as fast now. If you don't know the game, you don't even remark it as it is so smooth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ksSIDkwz9w [^] The content is sort of special, but the effects ... He has done it with Sony Vegas 8. Actually I don't know any other video editing program except Pinnacle (used years ago for some very very basic things). Therefore I also haven't ever seen how they do such an effect. What I imagine is something 2-dimensional ... I'll add a picture. This feature would be _really_ cool! (Said it again, yes, but it is true.) |

Hm. I think Bézier curves would be the wrong way because it isn't granted that it doesn't go backwards. Perhaps the method used in Gimp for color correction is better: Either straight lines or polygone interpolation. Perhaps this could be mixed by using two sorts of nodes: Inserting a «linear node» draws a straight line from the previous node to the inserted one, and inserting an «interpolation node» would interpolate a polynom over all connected previous interpolation nodes. See attachment. |

my original idea was more in direction of syncing manually video/audio. so a horizontally drag of keypoints (in combination with the possibility to zoom) would make sense. |

Ah, I understand. I think I should open an own bug report. |

Created a new bug report: 0001026 Will delete my attached files, as they don't suit here. |
