| Summary | 0000476: Recent troubles with facedetect from frei0r - should we blacklist it? | ||||||||
| Description | We have had 2-3 reports recently about startup crashes, where the facedetect plugin from frei0r has been involved. This may actually be because the fei0r module has not been built against the gtk2 version used by the gtk image producer, but I am tempted to just add the facedetect plugin to the blacklist. What do you think? | ||||||||

Depends. How useful is it's functionality, and how hard is it likely to be to fix? High functionality+easy fix = fix it Low functionality + hard fix = blacklist it High functionality + hard fix = where's the best use of your time right now? Low functionality + easy fix = " " My gut hunch is that the answer to this is to blacklist, but then I have no idea what it is or how hard it would be to fix. :) |

Considering there are 4 related issues, and we have motion tracking in the MLT motion_est module, I suggest blacklist. The most important things now are reliability, ease-of-use, and basic features. Face detection is not a basic feature. |

This has been resolved by revision 2799, which blacklists face detect. Marking as resolved. |

Wrong resolution, I believe - this was fixed in 2799, and is part of 0.7.1. It might not work though? We have reports about it not working: http://kdenlive.org/forum/binaries-ubuntu-810#comment-2158 [^] |
