Summary0000490: quick preview
Descriptionduring editing process it is pretty common to check a transition between segments, either if it's a hard cut or crossfade or whatever.
So, normally the user place the timeline cursor somewhere before such an edit and start playback.
But it is very helpful and more precise to do this in an automated way.

The idea is to 'quick preview' the nearest 'edit' before or after the timeline cursors position.
So, when this action is executed, the 'edit' will be played back but with a predefined preroll/postroll time.

this means - in case of a hard cut - the playback will show the predefined seconds before the edit and the predefined seconds after the edit.
In case of a transition it will play back some seconds before the edit, the transition and again finally some seconds after the edit.

For example (the J/K/L keys could be used to be a bit mnemonic):

'ctrl + J' == 'quick preview' previous edit
'ctrl + L' == 'quick preview' following edit

Acknowledged as a wishlist.

Interesting idea. From memory I think quick preview on After Effects used to be Alt+Enter, but they just did it from the cursor position. I liked that they ram-cached it though.
