| Summary | 0000513: Razor/cut/scissor tool(s)? We should settle on one name. | ||||||||||||
| Description | Hi all I believe Cinephiliac pointed this out somewhere, but I can't find the issue, and I think it deserves its own. We need to figure out what to call the tool that currently has a scissor for its icon. There are two tools, actually (I just had an epiphany, btw - never knew). a) the "freehand" "razor tool", (Tool|razor or the icon in the lower right corner). b) the "timeline" "cut clip" action (Timeline|cut clip). a) Is "cursor" oriented, will cut/razor a clip at the cursor position (if a clip is present, it does not have to be selected). b) Uses the yellow marker to make the cut, on an already selected clip. Both tools use the same icon (a scissor). The operation is essentially the same, only differing in how the point is choosen. However, they are referred to differently. The freehand tool is called a "razor" tool, while the timeline action is called "cut clip". I think this is confusing. I think we should stick with razor, and get a razor icon. Didn't kdenlive 0.5 have such an icon? And, the timeline action could be "razor clip". Comments? | ||||||||||||

I personally don't like it to be called as "cut" since we no longer cut film stripes into pieces ;) My suggestion would be to call such actions as "divide". So finally we could have: a) the "freehand" "divide tool" b) the "timeline" "divide clip" action But, since I'm not a native english speaker, this are just my 2 cents... |

Maybe "split" would be even better? |
