| Summary | 0000673: De-interlacing options | ||||||||||||
| Description | Any chance you add all these de-interlacing methods? http://www.100fps.com/ [^] I personally mostly use interpolation on Sony Vegas, but it's good to be able to also do Bob+Weave when I try to do slow-motion. It would also be nice to be able to de-interlace per project and/or per clip. | ||||||||||||

MLT currently supports linear blend (default) and linear interpolate. We have code copied from Xine for Bob and Weave, but I am suspicious about this and certainly Bob does not change the frame rate without some additional integration work. However, the current darling that I more interest in is YADIF: http://guru.multimedia.cx/deinterlacing-filters/ [^] The gavl library is reimplementing YADIF to work in more pixel formats as the original code is YUV 4:2:0 only. Also, some work is needed in kdenlive to let the user choose an option per project. Work is needed in both MLT and kdenlive to enable deinterlace as a regular filter that could be applied per clip or potentially a range of a clip (given kdenlive adds that feature). |

I may say a nonsence, but the most interesting solution on the long run would be to ask avidemux developers if they are willing to migrate their filter code to a share library. Therefore I wrote this message : http://avidemux.org/admForum/viewtopic.php?id=6290 [^] It has very little chances to succeed of course. But at least I tried! |

I explained the method here btw: http://eugenia.gnomefiles.org/2009/02/09/butter-smooth-slow-motion/ [^] First you drop a field to make 50i/60i as 50p/60p, and then you slow-mo that. This would mean 60 fps to work out a smooth slow-mo, rather than 30. Here's a guy who implemented the tutorial: http://vimeo.com/5171245 [^] (even Vegas doesn't have this ability automatically you see, only After Effects does). |
