While the team is out for a much deserved summer break the last minor release post-refactoring is out with another huge amount of fixes. The highlights include fixing compositing and speed effect regressions, thumbnail display issues of clips in the timeline and many Windows fixes. With this release we finished polishing the rough edges and now we can focus on adding new features while fixing other small details left. As usual you can get the latest AppImage from our download page.
Speaking of that, the next major release is less than a month away and it already has some cool new features implemented like changing the speed of a clip by ctrl + resize and pressing shift and hover over a thumb of a clip in the Project Bin to preview it. We’ve also bumped the Qt version to 5.12.4 and updated to the latest MLT. You can grab it from here to test it. Also planned is finishing the 3 point editing workflow and improvements to the speed effect. Stay tuned for more info soon.

Project created with 19.04.2.f or nightly builds after that won’t open with 19.04.3. Error message says I need to upgrade to a later version of Kdenlive.
Again an impressive list of bugfixes. Thank you so much for taking good care of a great product!
The Appimage of 19.04.2f has a size of 263 MB, the new version 19.04.3 is only 228 MB. What about that difference? Is there something missing?
It’s the fulkscreen mode working on windows ?
Previous version of kdenlive I could see video thumbnails of the frames if I zoomed in close enough. Now it shows the first and last frame only. How could I set it as before?
Right click on the track header and you can see an option to switch between different modes.
Thanks again to all concerned. I an new to this program, but within 1 month I’m blown away by the input we are enjoying >>> Thanks so much and keep up the excellent work
Great to see the progress 🙂 I think I found out something that doesn’t work: one long audio track, four short videos added in a sequence. Each of those videos used Position and Zoom. Zoom is 120%, and position goes from left aligned to right aligned. The third video doesn’t pan (shown as a still image), the fourth one does not even appear (the still image from the third video stays there). If in the editor I toggle the effect of 4th clip off and on, then the preview shows clip 4 correctly, but clip 3 is now still. If I toggle effect of 3rd clip off and on, then that one works in the preview, but clip 4 is still.
hello Sir
download Windows 19.04.2-6 install version is damaged, there is a message “Not Found
The requested URL /kdenlive/release/kdenlive-19.04.2-6.exe was not found on this server. ”
Thanks
Is now changed to version 19.04.3-1 and the download link should work.
I still cant input clips from D drive
The in/out on when using the clip monitor screen really needs help.
The indicators of what is selected don’t show up like they did in 18.x.
I also never figured out how nesting clip selections was supposed to work. This would be nice if the pairs of indicators for each clip selection could be different colors. Also clip selections should be able to overlap …
Thanks a lot for your hard work, its really paying off. I’ve edited a couple of small projects without a crash. Pretty positive improvement.
When you zoom in on the timeline to do a precise edit, the play head
line expands too. It would be nice if it remained the same size as when not zoomed and just centered within the frame where the edit will occur. New versions are great.
Thought the same. Opend wish https://invent.kde.org/kde/kdenlive/issues/318
Great!
When I move a title clip to the timeline, it always has a duration of 4:23. In the settings it is set to default to 5:00. Thanks
Good catch. I opened issue https://invent.kde.org/kde/kdenlive/issues/317
Should be solved with upcoming Kdenlive 19.08.0
I recently tried this newer version (coming from Windows version 18.08.2) and noticed that in the project bin, there’s now a little swooshing animation when I click to expand the list of all the extracted zones for a clip. For me, this is a bit visually distracting and also adds a bit of delay before I can access the list. Is there an option to disable UI animation effects?
Thanks.
How does one NOT split the audio and video of a clip? Very annoying as I always use external audio recorder and now I have to ungroup A/V clip and then remove it. Imagine having 200+ clips and each requires extra clicks.. Am I missing something here? Instead of less work it is now more work..
Agree with you 100% … I liked the way the 18x versions handled the audio … I record separate sound. Now I have 3 tracks to work with instead of 1 video track with audio in the same track. It makes it harder to do the audio, add effects and lots of other things. The old way was a Feature … the new way is annoyance.
You can just bring videos to the timeline. Either with the mouse via drag/drop from the ClipMonitor or directly from the ProjectBin: See here: https://kdenlive.org/en/2019/04/kdenlive-19-04-released/ under Monitor ” Shortcut icon in clip monitor to drag only the audio or only the video of a clip in timeline.” and under Project Bin, ” Shortcut icon to drag only the audio or only the video of a clip in timeline.”.
From 19.04 on everything goes with keyboard shortcuts as well. Select a video or audio track (up/down arrow key) and set as target (the green vertical lines on the track head) on/off (shift + t) and active (a, V1 turns yellow). If the audio track is turned off as the target (no green line): use v or b to insert only the video on the selected track. Shortcut t switches between Timeline and ClipMonitor.
I really don’t think this is the issue. I want the audio on the timeline for syncing my recorded audio. It was very convenient for it in a single timeline. I could sync up my recorded audio, then just switch off the integrated audio for the video/audio timeline. The new method creates a situation that makes adding recorded audio or mixed, camera/recorded audio a cumbersome process that has increased editing time significantly.
The way the audio was handle in the pre-19 versions was much more convenient. You shoud do a poll to see what other users think about this.
I just updated to 19.04.3. When I open a existing project, there is no timeline shown.
I recently update it to Version 19.08.3, and now my mp3 files is invalid, this is not happened in the previous version, I was editing video while updating some software, Kdenlive is one of them, update was done, everything is fine until I render my video, the audio from my voide recorder is gone, I restart my pc and then start kdenlive again, and then my mp3 files are invalid, any other sound from the video are there, only the sound from my recorder are not.
what when wrong? and how to fix it.., thanks.
Please try with the AppImage 19.08.3b to see if there are any packaging issues.
