Kdenlive 19.08.2 is out with many goodies ranging from usability and user interface improvements all the way to fixes to speed effect bugs and even a couple of crashes. Automask effect gets back the possibility to store the tracking data to clipboard which then can be used for motion following by importing the tracking data into i.e transform effect.

I’m scared! Does this mean that there will be no more updates for my computer until I update the processor? But i have Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 3 GHz. In my opinion this is not such an old processor to just write it off…
Brah, your processor is old and mostly obsolete. Instead of being in denial, upgrade to something that’s at least from 2013 or newer and move with your life.
Try a daily build version. For some reason it doesn’t require SSE4.2.
I have reported this issue at https://invent.kde.org/kde/kdenlive/issues/362.
I used Daily Build #330 to edit a project yesterday. It worked really well. I had zero crashed in 2 hours of editing. It appears to be pretty good. Bezier Curves needs some work, but that’s all I found that didn’t work while doing my projects.
Do you work on Linux?
Yes, I use Mint 19.x (latest). It is working will with my laptop, a Lenovo w520, i7, 24gb, 512ssd. It seems to work pretty well now. I think it is better now than before the refactoring.
Great work! Thanks!
I note some issue with thumbs generation. If I import 163 clips (filmed by Sony A7 m2) kdenlive think a very long time. Also it took a large memory peace allocated: 6.4 Gb on import finish, 6.7 Gb on all jobs finished, total system memory used 10.7 Gb. When I look to videothumbs folder I see thumbs size match the project frame size (1920 x 1080) and total folder size is 3.2 Gb (but footage folder total size is 8.9 Gb). Can you add option to limit it to some percentage of frame size?
I’m a using Linux Mint 19.2 Xfce with an i7 3770. I have noticed for some reason kdenlive 18.12.1b is the latest one that seems to work the best for me. The newest versions seem to either not run properly or the UI is to large. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a nice day.
For me, on windows with i7, 17.12 is the fastest. Try with the appimage. Do you work with an 4k monitor?
I noticed something in the latest build #345. Fade in/out for video and fade in/out for audio have the same name. The fade function in video has a check box for “fade to black” which seem to be the only effect it has.
The 2 “fade” functions need different names. The old Fade to Black and Fade from Black are better than the new idea. All of these 4 effects should be on the “Add Effects” menu option as they are frequently used items. In the #345 release only the audio effects are in the menu.
My opinion … anyone else have anything to add?
Oh boy, do I hate this! I’ve been using Kdenlive daily for maybe 9 years, been learning the whole time, and now it’s incomprehensible to me. I used to cut the clip by right clicking… that doesn’t work anymore?
I know that there’s probably a reason for all of this. The only real remedy will probably be for me to get with the program by learning kdenlive all over again. Who doesn’t love reading a bunch of computer documentation?
Oh well, right now I’m studying the documentation on downgrading.
Useful and helpful info, Thanks for sharing !!!
