Any rendering crashes!

Hi everybody, a few days ago I sent a bug report on Mantis usr: grangorge http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=2489 , to report this issue, Kdenlive stopped rendering suddenly, not a single format works. Now the thing is getting stranger.
I was on the way to re-install kubuntu from scratch to a new partition on my drive, and so I did.
After finishing clean install, I installed Kdenlive from source and I got the same effect as old installation on old system, kdenlive can't render to any format, and I've tried them all.

Since I think it's a strange issue and sow that other users have the same problem, I wanted to post it here also.

Again all details in this bug report: http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=2489

You know, funny thing is that kdenlive works perfectly, just can't render although mlt, ffmpeg and all libraries are up to date.

Other funny thing kdenlive works perfectly and renders also perfectly on my laptop (Lenovo B-550, intel graphics, 3gb ram, 320 hd) but there kdenlive 0.7.8 and MLT 0.7.6.

Any hint?

Hope this could help some other.

PLZ I want to keep on working with KDE and Kdenlive, I don't want to buy a MAC!

Thanks.

Garp! Do you really render any mode in two pass?
I have add kdenlive-svn repo and update and upgrade system. It reinstall current kernel (???), delete python-mlt and change mlt4 to mlt5.
MPEG2 2 pass work, xvid4 1 pass work, but xvid4 two pass render don't work!!!

But I don't purge anything just upgrade the system!

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 x64

ZhEKa, no actually, I only render using a customised h264 profile.
I did not try using other codecs.
Since (some of) the packages in the svn PPA are slightly older, if you don't purge first the release, melt, frei0r, etc and remove the kdenlive-release repository from your sources, maybe you are not getting all the packages from the svn PPA when you do update && upgrade (but perhaps I'm wrong).

Not all is solved though, at least in my case.
Now the render doesn't crash when rendering short sections of a projects (2-pass h264 renders; kdenlive 0.9 and melt 0.7.9 and frei0r 1.3.0, all from kdenlive-svn PPA) but I still experience crashes when rendering the full project (around 7'40").
This time though the crashes are happening at the very end of the second pass and the error message is much longer than before. I am on a different machine and can't copy&paste the message right now. I could do this later on today if the devs think it'd be useful.
Even when kdenlive crashes, though, the output is ok and usable.

Thanks, I'll be trying to full uninstall and reinstall only from svn later.
Now I have the same problem as before: http://www.kdenlive.org/forum/2-pass-xvid4-encoding-crash
There are current errors:
[mp3 @ 0x259d160] max_analyze_duration reached
[mp3 @ 0x25b96a0] max_analyze_duration reached
[mp3 @ 0x7fdda4006280] max_analyze_duration reached
[mp3 @ 0x7fdda4037520] max_analyze_duration reached
*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/melt: double free or corruption (!prev): 0x0000000004beb7a0 ***

I just cleared the system from any bites of kdenlive related packages. Clear apt cache and reinstall all from ppa:kdenlive-svn.
Problem still the same (see http://www.kdenlive.org/forum/2-pass-xvid4-encoding-crash).
I tried MPEG2 and MPEG4 two pass encoding - all work, but XviD4 two pass encoding don't work!!!
But I find a solution!!!
Not elegant but just work!!!
Run in terminal:

MALLOC_CHECK_=1 kdenlive

This overrides some memory checks (glibc detected errors) for running process.
Two pass XviD4 encoding works without any problem!!!
Resulting video file also without any problem!

I saw the terminal output for this work:
There are messages before encoding starts:

[mp3 @ 0x259d160] max_analyze_duration reached
[mp3 @ 0x25b96a0] max_analyze_duration reached

But there are not any errrors or messages between first and second pass!!!
There are not any output after works ends!
All works fine!

have almost the same problem few days ago: can't render in any format
try to reinstall all kdenlive related packages:
kdenlive, frei0r-plugins, mlt, libmlt, melt, python-mlt
delete ppa:sunab/kdenlive-release if it is
add ppa:sunab/kdenlive-svn
reinstall all from this ppa
in my case all work expects xvid4 two pass encoding
Running MALLOC_CHECK_=1 kdenlive makes xvid4 two pass encoding working :-)
You can try MALLOC_CHECK_ with 0

Kdenlive 0.8.2.1/ Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits
Unable to render anything. Tried all outputs. Kdenlive crashed
What I did:
Tried to purge, update, reinstall without improvement.
Removed the file home/user/.kde/share/config/kdenliverc
Then started kdenlive from console with: padsp kdenlive
I can render perfectly now
Hope it will solve some issues

Brand new kdenlive user on Mint 12 machine using version 0.8 of kdenlive. Instructions aren't clear on whether you can go straight to rendering to file or if you have to use scripts. I have done both. If I go straight to render to file w/o scripts the job que shows the job waiting indefinitely. If I use a script job que shows rendering crash immediately. I presume it's my own ignorance as I am new to this type of software having recently decided to upgrade from Avidemux to a more complete software.

Any thoughts appreciated.

You do not have to create a script to render. Kdenlive should start a render job and render to completion. But if the script you generated crashes this is suggesting you have some issue. Which might explain why the render job never completes.

Version 0.8 is not supported. You should upgrade to 0.9.2. It fixes a number of rendering bugs.

Thanks for the info. I've been trying to install for 2 days now. Downloaded the 0.9.2 tar and install instruction in it don't work. have tried apt-get after putting the repository recommended on site in and nothing seems to get this thing loaded properly. Crashes when I try run it now. Think I'm done with it. Have loaded other software that isn't as nice to use but at least it works all the way through.

@nomad062, have you tried the build script, http://www.mltframework.org/bin/view/MLT/BuildScripts until Mint adds 0.9.2 to it's repos?

I tried that and it fails on the apt-get statement you run before the script.

Hello there, I'm Antony from Greece, not a linux master but for 15 years i edit films for a living.
I've been reading, tried many of what i've read, nothing happened for me.
Had issues with title rendering (the main issue), it was crashing to 100%.

Here's what worked for me.

(i was using footage from dv camera, jpegs, footage from cell phone camera and some footage from a hd handycam).
changed my DV-PAL project (the goal was a dvd-video), to HDV (1080 25p for me). I edited "project settings". If you're not sure, save your project to another name before you try anything.
What i got was the same timeline with some issues at every shot had a "pan n zoom" effect. I removed the and made new ones. Same with titles, they were at the wrong place and smaller, I deleted the "composite" of each title, then made a new one.
When everything seemed ok in the timeline, i rendered everything and there wasn't any problem at all.

What i have now is a 1920x1080 master clip, and i can use any program i want for convert, transcode, or dvd authoring.

I hope this helps, take care,
Antony
