Building from source on xBSD (FreeBSD, etc.)

Congratulations on a very powerful application!

I have been trying to build Kdenlive on FreeBSD using the shell script from the Wiki page, without success. Having downloaded the source frm svn, the build command fails with plenty of errors ffmpeg libraries missing, etc.
Trying to do ./configure and make from within the ffmpeg, mlt, kdenlive directories gives errors like
"Makefile", line 5: Could not find config.mak
"Makefile", line 27: Missing dependency operator
"Makefile", line 29: Need an operator
"Makefile", line 31: Need an operator
"Makefile", line 63: Missing dependency operator
"Makefile", line 66: Need an operator
Error expanding embedded variable.

or for mlt:

~/kdenlive/mlt %
(./configure appears OK)
make
list='src/framework src/inigo src/valerie src/miracle src/humperdink src/albino src/modules profiles'; for subdir in $list; do make -s -C $subdir depend || exit 1; make -C $subdir all || exit 1; done
"Makefile", line 6: Missing dependency operator
"Makefile", line 10: Need an operator
"Makefile", line 14: Need an operator
"Makefile", line 95: Missing dependency operator
"Makefile", line 96: Could not find .depend
"Makefile", line 97: Need an operator
make: fatal errors encountered -- cannot continue
*** Error code 1

Can anyone point me towards what needs to be done to build on BSDs ?
Are there any plans to do snapshot/nightly build releases of source code, or use the Autotools build system?

Thanks for your help
Chris

I'm working on a port of kdenlive for FreeBSD.
Not that hard, but now I have problem with audio playback.

If you want to try, or help me iron out the last issues, you can download the following files:

http://www.commit.it/kdenlive-ports.tgz
(ports for kdenlive/mlt/mlt++, untar in /usr/ports/multimedia)

http://www.commit.it/kdenlive-20070804.tar.bz2
http://www.commit.it/mlt-20070804.tar.bz2
http://www.commit.it/mltpp-20070804.tar.bz2
(source tarballs extracted form SVN on 2007-08-04, save them in folder /usr/ports/distfiles)

Then, to install:

#cd /usr/ports/multimedia/kdenlive
#make install

I'm not yet sure where to host the sources, so the ports doesn't fetch automatically.
Please beware that some dependency may be missing.
