Capture from a HD-PVR over USB?

There is an HD capture device from Haugpauge called the HD-PVR. I have read that it can be captured from using cat /dev/videoX > foo.ts. I am curious if there is any way to be able to use Kdenlive to be able to capture from this external USB device? The device is here:

Mythtv can currently use it as an input to capture HD tv over component cables. That info is here:

Apparently driver support has been added to kernel and above. Is this an easy thing to incorporate?

Next question if it's not, will I need to convert the video captured via the cat command to from whatever is in the .ts file to DNxHD first to be able to edit it easily in kdenlive?

As you have no replies, I can inform you about capture using VLC media player. I use it to capture from a Hauppauge PCI card and it's simple. I assume as it can use my card and it identifies it as a PVR card that it should also do the same with a USB HD-PVR?

Kdenlive can not capture from this device.

In terminal session enter commands:

Then import the clip into Kdenlive. It is my preferred method. I get great capture, and I can edit in the BEST editor out there. The only drawback is you can't monitor when using the line command. If you absolutely MUST monitor while capturing, perhaps try Smplayer? Or VLC? There is also the "T' feature in the command line that plays stdin, but I have not used it with my ffmpeg command so I can't say how it may be accomplished.
