Moving many clips (Kdenlive 0.7)

Hi,

I'm using Kdenlive 0.7 (the Debian Sid packaged version) to edit a video and I'm having many troubles when trying to make space in the middle of the timeline.

The only way I found of doing this is by selecting everything on the right one by one by pressing ctrl while clicking... then move everything. After the effort of selecting everything... oh! the move messed everything! Clips where arranged in a very messy way. Undo did not work... I had to rearrange many things by hand.

Is there another way of making space? I have to finish this video soon and need to add that scene in the middle, sorry if I'm a bit impatient about this.

Maybe this is solved in SVN? In that case, should I used the SVN version or I'd better wait to avoid frequent crashes?

Many thanks.

The spacer tool should be implemented fairly soon, according to the roadmap (

http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/roadmap_page.php

).

But even with the spacer tool, some way of selecting easily a large number of clips would also be a great addition.

And concerning the svn version, you're likely to have less crashes than with the official release...

Regarding the problem of clips moving strangely when there's more than one selected, there's already a bug filed at

http://www.kdenlive.org/mantis/view.php?id=367

. Feel free to add any comments, or monitor the bug there.

Cheers

You should be able to select multiple clips, by holding down shift, then dragging a selection box on the timeline. You should click with the mouse outside a clip to start doing the selection box. Test this on an empty timeline, should be clear. Combine with zoom (ctrl+mousewheel) to be able to select a large portion of the timeline.

Unfortunately there are issues when moving multiple clips... :-(

Oh ! Hodling down shift before draging the selection box... Didn't know that... Well you live and learn !

As Cinephiliac would probably say: "someone should document this" :-)

Ok right. What do you have to do to write some documentation for kdenlive ?

I don't have enough time to code anything (and anyway I'm a very poor coder), but I suppose I can write a bit of documentation, basic tutorials or whatever...

Heh, my style is more "You want it documented? Yes, that's a great idea! When you do it I'm sure *everyone* will love you for it."...pause... smile sweetly with big innocent eyes.

I thought I had already tried that. Many thanks, that was what I needed! But...

:( I hope this can be solved soon.

Anyway, many thanks to the Kdenlive team, it is on the way of becoming the perfect video editor :)

Granted! SVN revsion 2734 appears in a puff of magic. All praise whoever submitted that patch. :D

The bugtracker (like a magic genie) awaits your next request...
