Kdenlive 17.08 is released bringing minor fixes and improvements. Some of the highlights include fixing the Freeze effect and resolving inconsistent checkbox displays in the effects pannel. Downloaded transition Lumas now appear in the interface. Now it is possible to assign a keyboard shortcut for the Extract Frame feature also a name is now suggested based on the frame number. Navigation of clip markers in the timeline behave as expected upon opening the project. Audio clicks issues are resolved although this requires building MLT from git or wait for a release. In this cycle we’ve also bumped the Windows version from Alpha to Beta.
We continue steadfastly making progress in the refactoring branch due for the 17.12 release. We will soon make available a package for testing purposes. Stay tuned for the many exciting features coming soon.

Hi
Just tried to download 17.08, but link still gives previous version.
Updated versions will be available soon. Thank you for your patience.
Thanks. Misunderstood ‘Released’. Looking forward to it.
Kdenlive I think, will become my ‘New’ video editor.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to it. Superb.
Hi,
I understand that things take time to get ready. I also realize that since this is a free product, not many expectations can be placed upon it. I also consider KDENlive a very capable editor that allows me to edit (semi)professionally on the Linux platform. I am grateful for that.
I would advise though to actually release (either in the PPA or AppImage) once you announce the release of a new version. I know that the Windows version is there, though. I also know that the fact that the Windows version gets a front seat and the Linux version gets a 11-? day delay backseat may not sit well with the people who have used, promoted and supported this project for years on the Linux platform. This is not meant as an attack on the hard work of everyone involved. But sometimes it’s good to realize that even though it’s free, there is a brand, and a connection to that brand from loyal customers. Thanks again for all the effort gone into making KDENlive into what it has become right now. 🙂
Hi Vincent,
Thanks for your input, let me just try to clarify things. On Archlinux and other distros you have the latest version available. There is a problem with the QT version in Ubuntu which will take time to get updated and that is why there isn’t a PPA yet. Very soon hopefully the packaging issues will be fixed after the Randa meeting.
Thanks for the update! Sorry Qt is being trouble…
Here too
First comment so… Big thanks guys! Love kdenlive for Windows!
Sweet.
Love you guys. Great work. Keep it up.
Windows version (still beta) works very well, finally i’ve found my video editor software!
Is the “Freeze effect” the one that made some video cuts appear frozen at the start during the edition?
Great news! I have the KDEnlive PPA’s installed, yet no update shows up. Is this correct?
same story and I can’t find appimage too
There’s a dev comment up above that they’re having trouble with Qt in Ubuntu, so there’s a delay-
Do you know when 17.08 will be available in the Ubuntu PPA?
Hello, just installed for Windows. In directions you are supposed to put files from the ffmpeg bin directory download into the Kdenlive folder. Videos I have watched about the installation do not show that these files already exist in the Kdevlive folder however when I drag and drop they are there and are newer than the files I am replacing them with. I cannot find any comments indicating that anyone else had this issue. I do not want to replace files that perhaps have fixes in them with old buggy files. Please advise. Thank you.
You are supposed to replace the ffmpeg-related files included in the Kdenlive archive with the ffmpeg archive files, regardless of the file creation dates.
Was the Windows version for this release pulled off? The download link for Windows points to 17.04.3 and I can’t seem to find 17.08 on the release folder tree unless it’s supposed to be the Unstable one
Unfortunately, the Windows version of Kdenlive isn’t yet in the fixed release cycle yet; we basically lack the dev and distribution resources to release them on a regular basis. And no, it hasn’t been pulled off; it has yet to be pushed.
Ooh, alright! That is understandable. I thought it was pushed by the time of this blog, I guess I misinterpreted the meaning of some of the comments in here.
The software is good so far for the small usage I gave to it, I can’t wait to try new versions in the future.
Keep the good work!
Kdenlive gets better and better, i have used it since the early pre 1.0 versions. It is a genuinely competent editor that can be used as a professional editor. I always put a credit on my videos as in “Edited in Kdenlive”. Thanks for a great NLE
Hola cuando van a actualizar la ppa de linux mint? aun sigue apareciendo Kdenlive 17.04 y la verdad no anda tan bien como el 17.08 que probe gracias <3 :c
