Great update, looking forward to seeing more!
Could it find the Intel QSV codec to enable hardware encoding or install it please? Thank you.
I hope to improve the problem of transitioning on the same track when importing multiple clips, instead of cutting a frame to improve. Thanks
I still can’t import or export from kdenlive. *HELP*
If you are on Linux try with the AppImge.
Why is the Appimage 50 MB smaller than the last version? Did you maybe forget something?
I wouldn’t worry too much about that. It’s probably due to a code optimization, which is fine. Daily builds are even smaller than that at 178 MB and they work fine (for a daily build of course).
there is now also a problem in the same track transition not working for video and video:(
You have to shorten both end of the clip by half of a second. Then it should work.
My I ask what happen to a “New Titler Project” from last summer?
*May
Good question. The developer who started the new titler has no spare time at the moment.
I have this glitch where sometimes a clip’s first frame will take up like 2 seconds of the clip, making it look like a really weird standstill, anyone else have that?
I keep seeing problems with translations in 20.12.2 (at least under Windows, which is what I’m using):
– The Kdenlive Preferences window shows completely in English.
– Monitor “Options” dropdown menu options in English also.
– Shortcuts that shown in tooltips are also in English.
– Tracks’ header tooltips also in English.
– Audio Mixer tooltips in English.
the download button for windows dont work
Thank you for reporting. Problem is known. We cannot edit the webpage at the moment. Use this link for download: https://download.kde.org/stable/kdenlive/20.12/windows/
EDIT: fixed: should be working again.
Linux Mint 19.3 – Kdenlive 20.12.2 Appimage
Webcam not detected !!
>Configuration
>Configure Kdenlive

>Devices detected : none
Why ? While my webcam is well recognized in other software like Shotcut.
Yes, this problem is still not solved so far. It’s on the to-do list.
When do you think you could fix that? This is a key feature for me. I need it desperately 😉
-> Merlimau : There’s a problem with the daily builds. The last 3 (#817, #818, #819) have a failed red button. Only the one on feb. 15th had succeeded.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for reporting. The script is updated now and the daily AppImage should be available tomorrow.
Super! Thank you very much. It’s appreciated!
Sadly, today monday 22th, the script still doesn’t work yet.
Yes, you are right. Still updates ongoing to build the daily AppImage. Check tomorrow.
Please add CUDA Support for NVIDIA Cards, because my hardware doesn’t support NVENC for rendering next time. And make some new transition like Filmora for example.
Hope you guys can do it for next release.
Implementation of hardware acceleration is complicated. The team is working on it. But first MLT (the framework/program on which Kdenlive relies on) has to be updated which is ongoing as well. Maybe it goes into version 21.08?
What types of transition do you thinking like to have?
I use Kdenlive for much of my prerecorded video production for my YouTube channel. What I particularly like about this program are two things: one is I can make custom titles, be it as a standard WebM video or within the title creator built-in to the program.
I first came across this program on Linux, when I found it as part of the KDE desktop system. Back then, Kdenlive didn’t have a version for Windows at all. I was stuck either recording from a webcam direct to YouTube, or using Windows Movie Maker. I’ve been using the Windows version since it first came out a few years ago (around version 18), and it works for me.
Hi, since 20.08.3 a usable deshake function is missing: vidstab effect is missing (why?), and stabilization from the project bin will create an mlt file, which is slow to process (as it was allways). So for now, I can not deshake my videos in any usable ways. Could this be solved somehow?
Stabilization from the project bin is the only way it works at the moment. Some ideas of other ways to stabilize videos are around. Let’s see.
My suggestion would be to enable proxy creation for .mlt files in the project bin. This would easily solve the performance issues with the stabilized.mlt directly on the timeline.
is it possible to switch cameras in multitrack view from keyboard shortcuts or clicking on the desired camera on the monitor? How can I make it work? I searched for help in forums, duck duck go and youtube and seems no one knows how to do it. Thanx a lot.
Firstly, thank you so much for gifting us this slick and professional feeling video editor. I’m using it to great satisfaction to edit my multi-cam music videos. I’ve just upgraded from 20.08.2 to 20.12.2 and I would like to feed back the following: the new version is faster and more stable on my mid-level Windows laptop. I like the re-arrangement of the effects menu, though I wonder why you’ve put sharpening in the deprecated menu as it works really well on improving footage from low-cost cameras and phones. It might be useful to know some things don’t work anymore: 4K footage in a 1080p project now renders white (previews fine in proxy), and the full screen play switches off whenever you press the space bar to start or stop. I also preferred the larger icons in the project monitor pop-up menu, but I guess many of your younger users may disagree. Overall a great programme though and a real life saver for me as it runs well on my basic setup!
I assume you work with frei0r.sharpness. This effect has an issues with the scaled preview resolutions – It can be replaced by avfilter.unsharp.
About the rendering issue: Please try with the daily build to see if this is happening as well. https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Kdenlive_Nightly_mingw64/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/
Thanks for the great work 🙂
One request: would love for bug 430704 to be addressed (Linux)
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430704
Get this error message in the official release and the daily build appimages.
“cannot perform operation while dragging timeline” — at the time, I was not doing any dragging on the timeline and attempted to “ungroup” a v-clip from an a-clip when the error occurred. The only way I could get the clip to “ungroup” was to restart Kdenlive.
Good work on everything, the application has improved so much since I first tried it.
Holy cow there is a lot of griping and complaining on the comments here. Here’s a tip: if you have a bug or feature request and you put it on the issue tracker, it actually encourages developers more as they get the satisfaction of being able to mark it fixed when they take care of it. Then they can see a list of all their achievements (of which they’re are many). When you complain in the comments of a release announcement, it just makes them associate feeling bad with doing the work to put out a new release for you.
If you want better software, save the comments for the thank yous to the people who work hard to bring you a complicated piece of software that is free as in both freedom and beer. Throw your bug reports and feature requests where they can actually be tracked and followed up on- in the issue tracker.
Kdenlive has made huge strides forward over the last couple of years. While there will always be more to do, the *volunteers* pushing Kdenlive deserve to be extremely proud of what they’ve pulled off with this release. I, for one am very grateful of the gift of this release that they’ve given to us all.
Thank you!
From appimage start i havent pics (no shown) in both monitors : project and clip 🤔🤯 only sound… Aaaaa….. Hm… Linux Mint. What could i do ?
Thanks for your efforts
