Kdenlive will be carrying out a fundraiser soon and we would like to explain its place in the moviemaking ecosystem through the experience of the filmmakers that use it. That is you.
We would like to hear about your projects. If you have parts of your work you can share with us, behind the scenes stills or footage on set, shots of your team working on post-production using Kdenlive, and so on, we would love to see them.
If you would like to contribute material we can use in our campaign, We have enabled an upload folder on KDE’s servers. Upload your images and clips there and include a text file along with the media containing attributions so we can credit you. Include links to the finished project so we can give your work some exposure, and, VERY IMPORTANT, a copyleft (CC By or CC By-SA) or Public Domain-like license so we can legally share the material.
And please remember: you can only legally share material you have full rights to!
Thank you!

Hi,
I’m Mussol, artist and producer from Mallorca. One of my projects is “Directes Soterrats” (Underground Live Concerts) and is made entirelly with Free Software.
Here you can take a look: https://vimeo.com/315452034
The basic idea is to record a live rehearsal of a band in a chilling environment, no pose or fancy production.
I use Ardour for audio recording and Kdenlive for video editing.
Everything is recorded and post-produced by me except the main camera (I can’t be everywhere!).
Video setup consist in 4 or 5 minicameras (GoPro or similar) and one or two camera operators.
I usually put one of the minicameras on a rotating device so I can have more variation on unnatended shots (is easy to spot rotating camera if you look for it).
My editing proces is very simple, I purpousely decided to avoid any elaborated effects. I don’t even add titles or graphics and I do thema all live.
Most used effects are color and gamma/gain correction to calibrate and equalize all cameras. I give total freedom to the camera operators so I always use the operated one as reference. I tend to give inside shots a more warm tone and outside (interviews) a more cold one just for giving more variability.
I love keeping a dirty look regardless the style of the band.
I started uploading to Youtube but I’m really tired of their automated copyright bots so I’m slowly switching to Vimeo.
Here you can take a look to some of the bands I recorded:

KDEnlive is the greatest GNU video editing utility I have ever seen for Linux, et. al. I have been using it since the good old days (~2010) and it want even great back then. Today this video editor continues to surprise me ever time I use it. It is now rock solid and I believe it is ready for mass consumption.
I am currently using it to edit some videos of the temples at Angkor Wat upon the great Kingdom of Cambodia. Thanks all who continue to add code/ ideas into this wonderful project. Your wisdom has forged this ring!
